About

Milton Airfield

Milton Land Lab is based at Milton Airfield, a 15-minute drive from campus and formerly operating airport owned by the University of Virginia. As a University asset, Milton Airfield is a shared space for learning and experimentation. In addition to the involvement of the A-School, the property is also used by the University Police, Rivanna Radio Control Club, Model Airplane Club, Makers @ UVA, and the Baja Club from the UVA School of Engineering.

The A-School’s FabLab

The FabLab encompasses a series of spaces that range from workshop spaces to flexible project labs, from exterior work courts for larger-scale prototyping to full-scale testing labs, from an updated robotics lab to installation spaces for the display of material assemblies. A Core Shop (wood, metals, plastics), a Model Shop, a CNC Fabrication Lab,  3D printers, a VR/AR and Scanning Lab, a 2D Cutting Lab/Flat Lab, a Design Robotics Lab, a Casting Lab, and exterior workspaces collectively comprise a hub for innovative forms of making.
