Productive Landscape:

Regenerative Agriculture

Students were tasked with a hypothetical commision by a Landowner (UVA) to envision and create a stewardship framework plan for the property (Milton Airfield) focused on regenerative agriculture and productive systems. They were asked to consider long-term stewardship goals for the property and how best to balance both ecological and productive landscapes to create a resilient and economically stable endeavor

Fluff Farm

The principle behind Fluff Farm is making productive and regenerative landscapes approachable and fun! We as a team believe that education is an important element to a sustainable future so we created a farm full of fun, cute, and trending livestock and produce that is also highly productive to get people on the site interacting with it and learning about how it works so that these kinds of landscapes can become a part of the common conversation not just a niche that a few understand and advocate for.

M(oo)lton Farm: Re-Imagining Milton as a Productive Landscape

Milton Airfield, once a site of ecological degradation, is now positioned for a transformative restoration led by the University of Virginia. With a vision to rehabilitate the land into a thriving ecological and educational space, the project aims to foster sustainable agricultural practices, engaging local businesses. It consists of enterprises of cow and sheep to graze and secondarily, chicken with the enforcement of flood plain forest for regenerative land use and environmental stewardship.

101 Alpacas: a multi-species textile farm

The design aims to create a productive landscape that intertwines people, animals, and plant communities together through the concept of a textile farm. Fiber-making and dye operations exist in the form of alpaca pasturing, flax production for linen and dye plant pathways that weave through pasture and cropland, exposing the public to all aspects of this productive textile landscape.
